Avalanche warning for region Svalbard sør Monday 05.04.2021

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Strong winds are forecasted, but the general avalanche danger is decreasing. Large avalanches are possible. Avoid all avalanche terrain and run-out zones.

Avalanche problems

Persistent weak layer (slab avalanches)

on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a large truck or destroy several houses (size 4).
